Men's Familia is a four-year study/discussion program for husbands and fathers which equips and motivates them to live out their vocation to the fullest. Some outside reading and preparation is required for participants. Each meeting begins with prayer and reflection on the coming Gospel for Sunday mass. The group then discusses a brief series of questions focusing on a section of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Over the course of four years the group covers all four sections of the Catechism. But study of Church documents takes up the bulk of each meeting. Whether the document is Gaudium et Spes (from Vatican II), Humanae Vitae(On Human Life by Pope Paul VI), Casti Canubii (On Christian Marriage by Pope Pius XI) or Fides et Ratio (Faith and Reason by Pope John Paul II), the discussion is always about how Church teaching can help us to be better fathers and husbands. The emphasis in Familia is on putting Church teaching into ACTION! |
