May 2005 Minutes were approved.

REPORTS

Jim Hentges had no official report. He did state that Fr. Pedersen would continue with his leadership to bring the parish 50th anniversary commemorative book to completion even after his departure from the parish in June.

Rita Degnan reported that the parish Finance Committee has approved the preliminary church budget for fiscal year 2005-2006.

Joe Haefliger reported that members of the Stewardship Committee continue to discuss their plans for the active promotion of Christian stewardship this fall among parishioners.

Steve Connolly reported that the new playground equipment for the school would be installed on Saturday, June 25. He also stated that the School Advisory Commission extended its gratitude to school Principal Mary Wozniak for her 25 years of dedicated service to St. Raphael School.

Because of his schedule with the Search Committee for a new school principal, Fr. Juettner came for a few minutes to make a brief report. He indicated that the Search Committees for both a new senior high youth minister/Confirmation coordinator and a junior high youth minister/assistant to the senior high youth minister are now completed and the names of the new youth ministers will be released by the end of June. He spoke of the current work of the Search Committee for a new principal of the school and hoped for successful results by the middle of June. He also spoke of the involvement of the parish in the next phase of the Archdiocesan Evangelization Initiative.

The outgoing members of the Council were given some time to made their final remarks and comments on the past three years of their service on the Council.

The 2004-2005 Council adjourned at 8:20 p.m. Refreshments were served before the 2005-2006 Council was convened by Jim Hentges at 8:35 p.m.

A roll call of the members of the 2005-2006 Parish Pastoral Council was taken. All members were present.

The agenda was approved with the following amendments: discuss a motion to adjourn all meetings at 8:45 p.m., discuss a day of prayer and reflection for the Council members, and determine which member of the Council will serve as the liaison to the parish Finance Committee.

The Officers of the 2005-2006 Parish Pastoral Council were elected with the following members serving in these roles:
Chair: Phil Goebel
Vice-Chair: Greg Feitl
Secretary: Jamey Dunne

A novena for World Peace will be held August 14-22 at St Raphael's, from the Feast of the Assumption to the Queenship of Mary. Mr. Wayne Weibel will be a guest speaker.

The Archdiocesan Eucharistic Congress will be held on October 7 & 8 at the River Center in St Paul.

The Council established a standing rule that all future meetings end by 8:45 p.m.

The possibility for a day of prayer and reflection for members of the Parish Pastoral Council was proposed by Phil Goebel for sometime this summer before the members begin regular Council meetings in September.

Mary Turner was elected as Liaison to the Finance Committee by a written ballot.

Photos were taken of the five new members to the Parish Pastoral Council for the church website.
